English Congregation Pastor
Vancouver Chinese Alliance Church is a vibrant, multi-generational, multi-cultural church, serving the English, Cantonese, and Mandarin speakers in metropolitan Vancouver. We are a community of believers who strive to be “Unified in Christ for the Mission of God.” The current pastoral team for all congregations consists of six full-time staff.
Currently, we are looking for an energetic and inspiring person who has an intimate relationship with Christ and a heart to lead our English ministry.
Areas of Responsibilities:
The primary role of this position is to shepherd and provide spiritual leadership to our English congregation, consisting of seniors, families, adults, youth and teens. The pastor must integrate his ministry vision and emphasis into the church’s existing programs, which include weekly activities such as worship, member fellowships, small group programs, prayer ministry, marriage counselling, discipleship training, Sunday school, youth ministry, teens worship, visitation and community outreach. The pastor is encouraged to develop new programs to grow the ministry.
The position also requires the pastor to recruit, equip, and lead a network of servant-leaders, and provide supervision and coaching to other pastoral staff serving in the English ministry. The pastor will also be required to cultivate effective communication with the members from other congregations and partner with all pastors to ensure that our members’ spiritual needs are met.
In accordance with Canadian employment standards, preference will be given to candidates who are either Canadian citizens or landed immigrants. In addition to this, a criminal record check is required.
This full-time position reports to the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor or higher degree from an accredited seminary school and meet the Canadian Alliance accreditation requirements. A Master of Divinity degree is preferred. The candidate should also demonstrate strong administrative and leadership skills, and possess a passion for God and His people in the setting of a multicultural Chinese-English church community. Previous ministry experience from serving in a multicultural Chinese-English church will be an asset.
